Isn't it amazing how quickly babies grow and begin to use their hands and feet so dexterously? Crawling, walking, grasping and waving bye-bye; your baby is perfect in every way! But can you imagine how difficult the littlest of tasks would be if your tot's fingers were injured? It could very well happen. Open doors are just an invitation for curious little minds. And with toddlers around, they are every parent's worst fear.

Well, worry no more! While at the JMPA Show, AJ and I were fortunate to meet inventor extraordinaire, Nigel Hall. He enthusiastically introduced us to the Olliedoo Wedjie; the serious product with a fun name. The all-in-one Wedjie is so easy to use. Simply open your door to a 90° angle, place the Wedjie on the top hinge of your door and voilà, no more chances for squished fingers. The doorstop creates a sturdy wedge between the door and frame, which cannot close until the Wedjie is removed.

Did you know that one of the most common causes of injuries to young children is a trapped finger in a door? According to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA), thirty thousand children trap and seriously crush their fingers in doors each year. More than 1500 of these children will need surgery, sometimes requiring ongoing reconstructive surgery. If you think it will not happen to you, think again then purchase an Olliedoo Wedjie. It is available in three sizes; Finger (stops normal household doors from closing at 35°), Classic (stops normal household doors from closing at 80°) and XL (stops heavy duty doors from closing at 80°).

Please join me in Meg's campaign to "Save the Phalanges". Together we can keep the tears away! So open the doors let the fresh air in. Enjoy your summer while protecting the 10 little fingers and 10 little toes of the ones you love…with an Olliedoo Wedjie!
