Sesame Street is one of the world's most popular children's television programs. Since it first aired in 1969, the street that originally ran between brownstone buildings in New York City has stretched farther and farther to more than 100 countries and has become what is surely "the longest street in the world."

Sesame Street blends live action, short features and appearances by beloved Muppet characters such as Elmo, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, Grover, Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch. The show helps young children from all walks of life learn the basics of words, numbers, shapes, problem solving and social skills that will help them as they grow older.

More than 30 countries have created their own local versions of Sesame Street, which always include new or adapted characters and themes and curriculum that reflect the local culture. The colorful international Muppets sing songs in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Swahili and many other languages.

Putumayo is pleased to team with Sesame Workshop, the creators of Sesame Street, to present this enchanting collection of songs and videos from many of the international adaptations of the program, along with classics from the original show.

The two-disc package features a music CD with 13 songs, featuring favorite Sesame Street Muppets, plus characters developed to reflect the unique cultural and social development needs of children in each host country. Elmo, Big Bird and Snuffleupagus join the rest of the Sesame Street family to perform familiar tunes, as well as original songs from international Sesame Street shows in an array of different languages.

The DVD features 5 music videos that visit distant locales such as Russia, South Africa and Mexico. Colorful liner notes in four languages make Sesame Street Playground a truly educational and entertaining gift for children aged 2 and up.
