Frances England has always been passionate about music, but didn't find inspiration for writing children's music until the arrival of her first son. At bath time, Frances would amuse him by by making up songs about their time together. Frances decided to record some of their bath time repertoire as a contribution to a fundraiser for her son's preschool and Fascinating Creatures was born. Unsolicited awards and tremendous critical recognition for Fascinating Creatures led to a general demand for more material and the release of CD number two.

Frances England's new cd, Family Tree, blends folk, indie and old time sounds to explore themes of family life, animals, friendship, and empowerment. This is music for the whole family. Truly.

{dixieland jazz for children}

Staying true to her Louisiana musical roots, Johnette collaborates with Jimmy LaRocca's Original Dixieland Jazz Band to introduce children of all ages around the world to the joyful sounds of Dixieland Jazz; the music she heard growing up as a child in New Orleans. "Some of my earliest childhood memories are of my parents, my siblings and me standing in the doorways of Jazz clubs in the French Quarter and listening to Dixieland Jazz. I want to share music with children the way my parents shared it with me at such a young age. I perform music for children because I love it, I respect children, I like making children laugh and think, I want to share my musical culture, and I like giving children a reason to celebrate being children."

Nineteen original songs blend the upbeat, happy sounds of Dixieland Jazz with lyrics for children and their extended families. It is our hope that this authentic and innovative recording for children keeps the tradition alive with a new generation of Jazz lovers.
