Those of you who know me well know I am pretty much an "old fashioned girl". I adore anything that is soft and pure, natural and unpretentious, wholesome and nutritious, gentle and kind. I love tradition while discovering and protecting our wonderful world. So you can imagine how excited I am to have found a special new company that shares my values. "The Little Marmara Clothing Company was founded in 2005 to provide children and their parents healthy organic clothing options that fit and feel as good as they look."

Its founder, Gabrielle Ackerman, believes in simple things and states "We should treat the environment as we would treat ourselves". She is the inspiration for designing wonderful handcrafted items created from 100% organic Turkish cotton. The manufacturing process and facilities have respect for fair labor practices; she values her workers rights and strives to maintain high environmental standards.

Her kidswear gleans inspiration from Ackerman's Turkish roots in the Marmara region of Turkey, home to the inland Marmara Sea which is connected in a complex and amazing eco balance with the Black Sea and the Aegean Sea. Within this incredibly beautiful sea are pretty islands rich in sources of marble and give the sea its name.
Her designs are surely fit for the mini gods and mini goddesses formed from the exquisite marble of these fascinating islands.

Little Marmara products are wonderfully constructed in celestial organic cotton with rich and mellow hues. The designs, inspired by her traditional Mediterranean culture have charming prints which are adorable as they wrap from the front to the back. I appreciate the tagless sizing and I really love the distinctive classic logo incorporated onto the outside of these terrific products. Soon there will be organic cotton pants, blankets, sweaters and hats, bath wear and toys all from this incredible company.
