Working in information technologies, I have dedicated a substantial portion of my life to computers. I am always excited to have my daughter show an interest in my work as I toil behind the computer.  Of course she wants to press the buttons and move the mouse though. This is actually a good thing and warms me to see her craving discovery.

Comfy's Easy PC system gave my daughter the opportunity to recognize a fundamental component of personal computing, known as the input device. While some children's toys focus on cause and effect, Easy PC actually has a keyboard that when plugged into your computers USB port, interacts directly with the software running on your computer.

Pressing colored buttons and character keys on the keyboard, cause respective actions to take place on the screen. Colors, shapes and objects were all prompted by her fingers on the keyboard. Pressing the red button for example, made a red square appear on the screen, and a voice on the computer will say "This is a red box", followed by an animation of the box closing and being wrapped with a ribbon. The voice will then say "Present". She was repeating everything the program said.

We started off with the beginner software that came with the keyboard, and within  half of an hour she had already learned a few new words and was excited to keep playing. The beginning software has three different levels, as do some of the other software packages, that are directed to the newer users. The software's focus on different topics such as Animals, Shapes, Music, and Colors.  Comfy also has other more advanced software, which we did try.

At just over two years my daughter found some of the games and activities in the advanced software very fun, although she did have a hard time navigating the menu. Since I was playing with her this wasn't an issue, as I could assist her very easily, and once she got the hang of it she loved it.

If you ask her she will tell you bed time came a little too soon last night because she was having so much fun, and I am sure there will be a pint sized princess using my computer all the time. I am OK with it though, because the Easy PC is a great stepping stone for a child to become familiar with the personal computer.

Comfy's Easy PC is a fun learning tool for little ones from ages 1 - 5, and a great way to introduce your little one to a personal computer. Take a tour for yourself and check out the demo here...happy PCing babies!
