Children love animals. In fact, animal sounds make up many of their first words (with a baa baa here and a moo moo there!). Perhaps it is the unconditional love between a child and their pet, or maybe the nonverbal communication, that bonds children and animals so beautifully. My husband and I recently took our boys to the zoo and melted as their faces beamed at the elephants, penguins, and even the snakes!  So imagine my delight when I discovered the Alphabet T-Shirts by bioME 5, and was able to keep their excitement alive.

You may be thinking to yourself…what exactly does bioME5 mean?
Not to worry…if my best friend wasn't a marine biologist, I wouldn't have known either. Biomes are communities of organisms adapted to a particular environment, such as the desert, grasslands, forests, tundra, and aquatics. The bioME 5 Alphabet project was created by two architectural designers who are inspired by the Earth's FIVE natural biomes. They developed these attractive and imaginative T-Shirts to educate, and amuse, our children about the wonderful animals around us.

For example, my older son's name begins with the letter "R", so he naturally loves the Rhinoceros shirt. This T-Shirt, available in canary yellow, depicts a realistic picture of a rhinoceros inside an oversized letter "R". Then, underneath the picture, the word "Rhinoceros" is written upside-down, so my son can look down and read the word.  Not only is the shirt a great conversation piece, and a tremendous depiction of this powerful animal, but it makes my son feel like a "big boy" to be able to "read". 

These unique and exquisite shirts are available in sizes 2T, 4T, and 6T, so they are the perfect size for our inquisitive preschoolers. Even though my younger son wants to have everything his big brother has, he will have to wait on his "C" is for "CAMEL" shirt until next year when he is a bit bigger!
